Indefinite Hiatus (Who saw this coming? :))
In a very unsurprising move, I'm placing Blowing My Cover on indefinite hiatus. I'm also gonna say the line so many have said before, I do want to return and finish this eventually, but just not right now
The sparknotes version of why I'm doing this is:
- The project's scope is beyond my skill
- It feels like an obligation rather than hobby work right now
I have a bad habit of planning projects that are too big for what I want. I've done this for like 4 years now and it's a hard habit to break. Better planning comes with a better understanding of the work that is needed, something I am slowly gaining with each failed project. I also, as you might know if you've seen my twitter, struggle greatly with the artistic side of projects. Blender is painful, composition feels wrong, and I don't even want to think about implementing everything into Unity.
Both listed issues will get better with time and experience, which is why I don't want to fully abandon this. TBH I got pretty far. Most animations done, dialogue system implemented, gameplay complete. It's really the huge mountain of polish that the game needs that's deterring me, stuff where since I'm not too experienced, I don't fully know how to bring it from "looks jank" to "kinda ok".
If I haven't posted anything else in a year's time, yell at me in the comments or something. But until then, I truly am sorry for the delays followed by the hiatus. I hope to bring you something else soon.
